C60/C70 thin films on {001} NaCl substrate deposited by resistive-heating evaporation technique were examined by transmission electron microscopy. A film prepared at room temperature was amorphous owing to the high deposition rate. A polycrystalline film consisting of submicron grains with fee structure was obtained when the substrate temperature was above 300°C. The < 111 > axes of grains were highly aligned along the normal of the substrate surface. A diffraction pattern of an area showed 12-fold symmetry. The result indicated an epitaxial orientation relationship to be {111}< 110 > C6o//{001}< 100 > NaCl or {lll} > 110 > C60//{001}< 110 > NaCl. The epitaxial relation was compared with that of fcc metals.
