For correlative light and electron microscopic immunocytochemistry, a simple method for flat embedding of cryostat sections in Epon was devised. In the present technique tissue sections were attached to widely used silane-coated slides, processed, and embedded in Epon beneath non-adhesive transparent plastic films. The Epon block can be easily removed from slides by heating. This method simultaneously offers transparency and thinness of the embedded blocks, absolute flatness of the sections, and easy removal of Epon from embedding molds.
